Pelu Mom is a small rug, handwoven and handknotted on a traditional foot-loom using 100% hand-spun sheep wool. This design is inspired by a wall hanging my mother made while she was pregnant with me. By combining flatweave techniques with hand-knotted sections in varying heights, the rug creates a playful mix of textures.
Designed by Hanne de Wyngaert and brought to life by Mayan weavers in Guatemala, each rug supports centuries-old artisanal tradition. By working directly with indigenous communities, we aim to provide fair economic opportunities while creating pieces that are both beautiful and functional.
